My City At Night

"My City At Night" - 2-22-06 - Julian Lopez

As the title says, this is my part of the world at night. This is the LA/South Bay area of southern California all in one shot. It's taken looking northward. To the left is the beach cities (Torrance, Redondo Beach, Manhatten Beach, Hermosa Beach, (and barely visible in the far distance along the coast), LAX area, Santa Monica, etc.). From there to the right is (up close, my city Torrance, stretches from left to right side of photo) the cities that make up most of Los Angeles County. Up the middle is Hawthorne Blvd. Which runs right down Hawthorne into those cities also. Just to the right in the far distance is downtown LA (the tall building sticking up over the horizon off to the right of the center of the picture). Farther right of those are getting to show Carson, Lomita, and cities beyond. On the very right (the brightest area on the horizon) is the Port of LA, cities like San Pedro, Terminal Island, and beyond that is Long Beach County and Long Beach itself. Where I'm standing and behind me is the city of Rancho Palos Verdes and Rolling Hills Estates. For an overhead view of the area in the picture (and to check my geography ;D) click this [link]

The photos were taken using a Vivitar Vivicam 8.1 megapixel 8300s. Photos were combined and scaled down using Adobe Photoshop CS2.
